Christopher Ochoa addresses public and makes official announcement of candidacy for Jacinto City council

Jacinto City, TX, March 13, 2009: Yesterday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. during the Jacinto City Council Meeting, Christopher Ochoa delivered an address to the public, which included the official announcement of his candidacy for Jacinto City Council, Position No. 4.

Christopher Ochoa began his address to the public by recognizing the city’s past and recent achievements. Ochoa paid homage to the city that he has called home for his entire life and the influence it has had on his growth as an individual. Next, Ochoa discussed his experiences as a college student at the University of Texas in Austin and the lessons he took away from his involvement in multiple organizations there that emphasize community involvement and volunteer opportunities. Organizations that Ochoa held prominent leadership positions with include the Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA), the University of Texas Leadership Board (UTLB), and the Omega Delta Phi Fraternity (UT-Austin Chapter). Through his involvement with these organizations, Ochoa not only further learned the value of community involvement and contribution, but also gained substantial and valuable leadership experience. Ochoa’s involvement with the Omega Delta Phi Fraternity originated his idea of bringing the Young Knights Community Mentor Program to Jacinto City. Aside from this particular initiative, Ochoa also wants to develop other worthwhile community programs in Jacinto City, including an “Adopt-A-Street” community environmental program and a “Hands on Housing” project which would provide a home rehabilitation program for Jacinto City. After discussing his major initiatives for the city and how his college experience influenced these ideas and the development of his character, Ochoa made an official announcement of his candidacy for Jacinto City Council, Position 4. Ochoa asks the community of Jacinto City and his fellow citizens for their support in this endeavor and welcomes any inquiries from the public.

Christopher Lawrence Ochoa was born in Jacinto City and recently graduated from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Ochoa’s main goal is to use his education and leadership experience to make a positive contribution to the city that he loves and calls home.
